Region 4 South Soaring Contest

Since 1982 the BRSS has  hosted the Region 4 South Contest, during the third week of September each year . The task highlights of this regional include the first 300k ridge task in 1982, the "Redlining the Ridge" 500 km task in 1984 and the 1000 km task in 1990. These may be the task highlights, but the mystique of the Region 4 South Contest has also been enhanced by the hospitality and dedication of the members of the Blue Ridge Soaring Society.

2010 Region 4 South

 September 20 - 25 with practice day Sept. 19

  

In September the Blue Ridge Soaring Society will host it's Annual Fall Regional Contest. Due to the size of our facility we must limit our field to 42 entrants. We will fly 15 meter, 18 meter and standard classes.

    

    Contest dates are Sept. 20 thru 25, with official practice day Sept. 19.  Please be sure to submit your application prior to the July 21 preferential deadline.  We will use the SSA's U. S. Pilot Ranking List for 2009.  It is your responsibility to advise us of any improvement or changes in your score prior to the deadline.

 

Regristration for the contest is done through SSA online via their website.  You will need to download the waiver below to fill out and mail to BRSS along with copies of:

        1.  Proof of Insurance ( $1 million liability)

        2.  Pilot's License

        3.  SSA Membership Card
You will also need to include your $150 entry fee deposit payable to Region 4 South.  You will mail these items to the contest manager at the address below. Your deposit will be refunded if you cancel by September 1st.

 

    We fly without water ballast; unless blessed with extremely strong conditions and a long ridge mission.
